Dominic The Shoe Surgeon swaps Travis Scott AJ1's soles.
Dominic’s custom sneaker game is always a win.
And although sole swapping is a well-known practice, being a pro at mashups that people would actually cop requires much more than meticulous cuts.
The Shoe Surgeon’s recent launches are just one more glimpse of Dominic’s fearless mind when it comes to giving already groundbreaking sneakers’ designs a new meaning.
As if AJ’s path wasn't already filled with remarkable designs, his visionary work got Travis Scott Air Jordan 1 Low’s midsoles swapped with big names of the sneaker culture.
Causing a lot of mixed feelings after posting some of his out-of-comfort-zone ideas, Dominic gave what people asked for through two limited releases available for US$2,500 each.
Stepping into other labels’ shoes, the TS AJ 1 gained the classic Converse Chuck 70 Utility’s sole, being followed by the Japanese, oversized & wave-like rubber design from Mihara Yasuhiro.
Previous to the launch, Dominic had also imagined how the legendary uppers would look like featuring a chunky rubber sole from Bottega Veneta, an extra athleisure Balenciaga’s touch, or even Rick Owens’ edges for a more rebellious atmosphere.
Sure thing that these far-fetched designs could find some stans, and it’s not up to us to judge.
After all, the ability to find new purposes for leather allows creatives to enhance silhouettes and the material's quality, resulting in the most unexpected & exclusive pieces.
Among infinite collabs, which might end up looking all the same, bespoke design and its lack of limits are a straight path to boldness.
