Vitra's Grand Repos: eco-friendly process inside-out
For Vitra's Home Stories, everyone was invited into three distinct homes with carefully selected pieces to reflect the owners' identities.
Berliner artist Karin Sander, who lives and works in her studio, designed her loft with the architects & friends Sauerbruch and Hutton and gave us a glimpse at how the right chair can change the room energy.
"For me, chairs are like little personalities and I always find it very interesting when I have visitors, how people choose their chairs, where they sit is also the place they occupy." Karin Sander shared with Vitra.
She needed pieces of furniture that carried their own personalities but could blend into an ever-changing space. That's the case of the Grand Repos wing chair.
This time around, the elegant chair is wrapped in Vitra's new olive-leaf-tanned leather. The new tanning agent is extracted from olive tree leaves, something that is usually wasted during the olive harvest. When used in a high-quality material like the Leather Premium F, the entire production process has minimal impact on the environment.
The eco-friendly tanning process is the perfect match for leather carefully sourced from selected regions. The fewer the chemicals, the softer the feel.
