The new porcelain-leather Adidas x Meissen ZX1000
Two symbols harmonically converged in the core of a special partnership: the Meissen Krater Vase & the silhouette of the Adidas Originals ZX8000.
This silhouette is remarkable in its beauty as a testament to craftsmanship, art, and endless creativity. The ZX8000 Porcelain will be auctioned at Sotheby's, and it is expected to sell for over $1.3 million USD — a potentially record-breaking price.
The ZX8000 Porcelain will be sold in a single lot until December 16, and the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Brooklyn Museum to fund art programming and provide local kids with access to art.
The renowned German porcelain design house Meissen was the first collaborator picked by Adidas for the A-ZX series — developed as a means for the German sportswear giant to collaborate with artists from around the world to portray the ZX8000 running shoe silhouette in their own special way.
Through one-of-a-kind kicks made of hand-painted leather and Meissen's Krater Vase porcelain pattern painted overlays, the brand's perspective emerged in the form of this silhouette to celebrate a shared history of careful craftsmanship, tradition, and timeless art.
After six months in the making, the pair is ready to pay tribute to the 310-year legacy of Meissen and celebrate the acclaimed Adidas ZX8000 design. Take a look behind the scenes inside the Meissen Factory as this unique sneaker is crafted by the world's most talented porcelain experts.
