5 times architect John Lautner influenced pop culture.
The modernist architect John Lautner needs no introduction, as most of his projects which have written the history of American architecture.
Despite being born in Michigan, it was in California that he gave life to projects that were super innovative and super sensitive at the same time.
One of his most famous projects, the Sheats Goldstein Residence, was built so integrated with the coast that it has the appearance of a cave, totally open to contact with nature. But this cave holds some historic leather furn made by the architect himself.
You might be thinking: I've seen this house in a movie. And here are 5 times John Lautner influenced pop culture.
The Big Lebowski. 🥛
As we've already shown you here, the house used as the setting for the '90s classic is more than the famous Sheats Goldstein Residence, and it's on Lautner's leather sofas that the main character spends time cursing — a lot.
Doja Cat. 🍑
Everyone talked about the Say So music video and its whole '80s vibe. And again, the chosen location was the icon of Benedict Canyon, Beverly Hills.
Dua Lipa. 🦋
If Dua needed an innovative role model, she'd definitely choose Lautner. “Like modern architecture, John Lautner coming your way” is one of the verses of the hit Future Nostalgia.
Jennifer Aniston. 📷
It's nothing new that the architect's projects are always chosen as scenarios for photoshoots and brand shows. For August's Instyle magazine cover, Aniston settled in the leather seats of Harvey House and enjoyed the sun.
Snoop Dogg. 🌭
A classic is a classic, and we're not just talking about the Let's Get Blown music video. After calling his friend Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg throws a party in the Sheats Goldstein outdoors.
More than 100 years of architecture, more alive than ever.
