5 facts about Phoenix Suns’ shooting guard Devin Booker.
King James considers him a star, and you'll understand why.
Devin Booker, or just Book for Phoenix Suns' fans, is definitely already considered a legend for his NBA achievements. The shooting guard has been gaining popularity outside of basketball since he started dating one of the sisters of the Kardashian-Jenner family, but there are many other facts that make him a rising star.
Booker represents a new generation of athletes who have fresh stories, stand up for a cause, and catch eyes with their Instagram feeds. So, here are 5 things you might want to know about the ex-Wildcat. 🏀
1. The secret weapon.
Considering the points he's scored on the court, it may seem strange, but while playing for the Kentucky Wildcats, Booker was a backup player. He showed up for less than 20 minutes in each game, but it was enough to get the team back and lead them to victory. D Book aka Trojan horse.
And when it comes to performance, the choice of sneakers is essential for more comfort and, consequently, better results on the court. No wonder athletes have their own silhouettes with a personal touch, and these kicks are very well received by sneakerheads.
As we show here, betting on durability and quality when choosing your sneakers isn't just a matter of conscious consumption but also an opportunity to think about functionality. That goes for skateboarders, for those who just want comfort, or for a basketball star.
2. Car Collection.
Like any player worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, D Book likes to invest in cars. But unlike Kevin Durant's Mercedes SLS AMG, or Lebron James' Lamborghini, his passion is for classics, be it intact originals or customized just for him.
Earlier on our list, we showed you the blue leather seats of his 1972 Chevy C10 truck, but the player still has a Ferrari 488 Spider, an all-black version with a highly breathable interior. Book also has a smooth-brown 1959 Chevy Impala and the rare Chevrolet Caprice in his garage. Definitely a fan of seats that last forever.
After starting his career on the bench, Book's performance on the court took a big turn. In March 2019, at age 22, he became the youngest player in NBA history to score at least 50 points in consecutive games. Prior to that, in 2017, Booker had scored a career-high 70 points against the Boston Celtics.
4. NBA Star.
To celebrate the league's 75th anniversary, the NBA released a short film honoring basketball legends. In the video, actor Michael B. Jordan drives a school bus taking some kids to tour the history of the championship and meet the 30 guest stars. In addition to LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, and the — magic — Magic Johnson, the video has a special moment dedicated to Kobe Bryant, Booker's biggest idol. The Phoenix Suns' guard even has a tattoo in tribute to the late player saying "Be legendary" in Kobe's own handwriting.
5. Hardcore gamer.
Like many of us, the days of isolation revealed another side of the player, who never stops competing outside the court. Book began broadcasting his Call Of Duty nights on Twitch for over 10 hours. All proceeds on the platform were donated to support those affected by the coronavirus.
