Who should do the Tron 3 soundtrack if not Daft Punk
Fifteen years ago, tracks from DAFT PUNK’s third album, HUMAN AFTER ALL, were leaked online right before, they released the album. Besides that, this year is also set to mark the return of the French electronic duo.
Back in time, a match made in retro-futurist heaven was born when the Tron: Legacy soundtrack found the French duo. This year, NME told Disney Studios that it finally gave the OK for a sequel to the movie Tron: Legacy (2010) to be produced and, of course, the top priority for Tron 3 is to negotiate the soundtrack with Daft Punk, which certainly boosted the success of the last release. Mitchell Leib, president of Disney's music and soundtracks, also revealed that he had already spoken with Paul Hahn, the pair's manager.
Remember that, despite having produced tracks from the album Starboy by The Weeknd, the electronic duo has not released anything of their own since the acclaimed 2013 album Random Access Memories.
It's undeniable that Daft Punk has always had a pleasure for mixing arts, either on the big screen or the runaways. They have long been close to Saint Laurent's creative director Hedi Slimane. They signed the soundtrack for the Saint Laurent fall/winter 2013-2014 show and featured in the Saint Laurent Music Project campaign alongside Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson, and Kim Gordon.
With the release of Human After All the musical duo's outfits became slightly less complicated, by consisting of black leather jacket and pants and simplified versions of the Discovery headgear, designed by Hedi Slimane. Bangalter stated that "We never like to do the same thing twice. It's more fun and entertaining for us to do something different, whether it's wearing masks or developing a persona that merges fiction and reality. We're happy to give back to the masses."
Hedi Slimane is a French photographer, fashion designer, and, nowadays, the Artistic Director for Celine. Before that, he worked with huge names of the fashion industry such as Dior Homme & Yves Saint Laurent.
