Moncler Genius 2020 collection by Hiroshi Fujiwara
Always a pioneer when we're talking 'bout exploring new horizons, MONCLER presents a new edition to their Genius initiative.
The project counts on different categories and novel approaches to communication that give a voice to personal creativity through creative minds around the globe. Each Moncler Genius collection has a dedicated launch date, ceaselessly rolling out unique voices and modes of expression throughout the year.
Of all the Moncler Genius project collaborators — including Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Noir’s Kei Ninomiya, and Francesco Ragazzi of Palm Angels — it can be said that the designer that hits the sweet spot between the “traditional” Moncler mountain man look and the Japanese streetwear god vibe is none other than HIROSHI FUJIWARA.
Tokyo-based designer FUJIWARA moved to the city at the age of 18, and was the OG creative multi-hyphenate before the lingo was even coined — he’s a DJ, streetwear designer, sneaker collector, and the man who’s knowledgeable in both hip-hop and rock. Through his collection, the designer wanted to create “a new standard”, reorganizing vintage, military, urban, and tech references.
The range is very collaborative: Fujiwara has teamed up with British leather specialist Lewis Leathers to create new versions of their iconic biker jacket — the special item of the collection.
The Dwayne showcases an iconic design with innovative graphic details. In collaboration with the English brand Lewis Leathers, this style is part of the 7 Moncler Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara line, the 7th collection of the Moncler Genius project, combining Moncler’s design elements with biker-style inspired details. Crafted in leather, the jacket features zipper pockets, buckle straps at the bottom to adjust the fit, and wide lapels with snap closures. The graphic lettering, label, and the patch are some of the unmistakable personalized details that tell the story of this special collaboration.
For the drop, Moncler has released this short film that explores a conceptualization of choices and encourages viewers to redefine the meaning of existence. The brand's team has released the video directed by Japanese director Genki Ito starring internationally known Japanese actor and singer Tomohisa Yamashita for the drop.
