Chinatown Market x Converse x Jeff Hamilton's leather jacket
When you think about the most historic NBA moments, there's one custom leather jacket that's always there.
‘02 Lakers' Kobe Bryant & ‘98 Bulls' Michael Jordan photos after three-peating have 3 things in common: sweat, pure joy, and Jeff Hamilton's iconic leather jackets.
The former [metcha originals] interviewee has a career that is still relevant & constant to this day — from the 2020 Lakers championship piece to The Weeknd's backstage fit at Super Bowl. Last week, Hamilton got together with Chinatown Market, designer Mike Cherman's brand, & Converse to launch 4 silhouettes with all the original jackets' glory.
"As you inspect each jacket, the amount of detail is what makes it immediately stand out and when designing for this project we had to make a sneaker for each iconic jacket that could stand up to the test of time the originals do," Chinatown Market shared on Instagram.
This was Mike's chance to transform something so iconic from back when he was a kid into something more accessible. Hamilton's leatherwork is so special that it is hard to get your hands on, but his art across Pro Leathers & Chuck 70s makes it more real for anyone with a thing for NBA.
Even Dennis Rodman walked down the memory lane with a Bulls Chuck 70 & got us hyped up for a future collab with Chinatown Market.
For a close up on the drip, we got you covered. Both silhouettes come based on either of the iconic Bulls or Lakers jackets, you pick your favorite. The Pro Leather Converse with lace-up fastening has all leather upper to highlight Jeff Hamilton's detailed craft.
As for the Chuck 70 — an essential Converse high-top silhouette —, they gave the design's leather a canvas feel with embroidered patch appliqué.
They're up for grabs on Chinatown Market's webstore for $165 USD the Pro Leather and $135 USD the Chuck 70.
