Five things you didn’t know about actor Kevin Bacon.
Besides holding a leather Prada FW ‘21 coat like few could do, Kevin Bacon was definitely a memorable face for his generation and could have done much more with that.
In the end, though, the '90s star decided to choose his peace above all.
Keep scrolling to discover five things he told Icon during his last interview.
1 - He lives on a farm and prefers looking at Hollywood from the outside.
The actor who now lives far away from Hollywood’s current cult of fame claims that actually it had called him, and not the opposite.
“I wanted to be an actor from New York, not one who lived in Los Angeles. It was something that was decided then: to stay in New York to do theater as well as film.”
2 - He claims that being famous is a nightmare.
“There is no way to describe fame to someone who has not experienced it. It’s a nightmare.”
Kevin Bacon left Hollywood when Footloose was still one of the top blockbusters of the year, choosing to stay with secondary characters rather than the hollow leads — and he doesn’t regret it at all.
3 - He thinks that #MeToo made things better in Hollywood.
The actor started his career in 1977, and things were way different back then in terms of assault. Unfortunately, it had been like that for years, so that’s why Kevin believes that movements such as #MeToo have caused a real change.
“Safety is prioritized: a shoot should not be a traumatic or painful experience. All you have to do is set foot on a set.”
4 - Although fame is difficult, he totally supports his daughter Sosie’s career.
Sosie Ruth Bacon has been doing well with her work, having been part of 13 Reasons Why and also the recent HBO MAX Mare of Easttown. At first, Kevin and Kyra Sedgwick, his wife, didn’t want their daughter to become an actress, but the support is unconditional, though.
“We wanted to protect her from all that. But we never told her. When she announced that she wanted to be an actress, we supported her like our parents had supported us.”
5 - His social media are another way for Kevin to share his creativity with people.
Bacon has benefited from social media and found there an opportunity to have a minute of fame, but free of worries. On his Instagram and TikTok, Kevin promotes his work as an actor or as a musician — one example? He released a new album with the group he has with his sibling, The Bacon Brothers.
Kevin claims that he is “famous for being famous.” But we can’t say he hasn’t achieved what he wanted — personal tranquility and professional longevity.
