Yeehaw to Mason Ramsey.
By the age of 12, most of us are struggling with our tone voice variations.
Mason Ramsey is definitively not on this group.
He got the internet's attention after posting a video of him performing a cover of Hank Williams “Lovesick Blues”, master yodeling at Walmart.
Rocking a red bow tie and tapping his foot to his own beat, this American country singer surfs the viral video wave to walk his way through the fame. Actually, “Famous” is the name of his debut single, released in 2018 after Mason signed to Big Loud Records. He also had performed with DJ Ethan Snoreck at Coachella, and most recently became a part of “Old Town Road”, by Lil Nas X — who also started out as a viral, this time at TikTok (we brought you a few things about Lil too, remember?).
Now, let's meet a bit more about the “Walmart yodeling Boy”, a.k.a. Mason Ramsey.
1. He told Ellen Degeneres the reason why he sings at the Walmart.
“Well, that's the only store we've got.” Mason is from Golcanda, a very small town with 700 people. In the interview, he describes himself as a “country boy” and also affirm to have sing most that 50,000 times at the marketplace.
2. Mason loves to play basketball.
He used to be the Number One scorer in 5th grade, and even says that if he wasn't a singer he would become a basketball player. He also has a passion for basketball shoes — can you blame him?
3. The Walmart gave him a scholarship.
Mason was only 11 years old when he went mega-viral, and the market has already got his education covered — $15,000 is all set for his future college tuition. However, we're quite sure he wont't need it ( things seems to be going pretty good for the country singer).
4. Mason's always so chill, man.
He lives it out the glamour life he's used signing on the EP “Famous”, while his name gets bigger and bigger by the hour. His recent performances at Coachella for 45,000 people and at Stagecoach Festival for 100,000 don't take these feet off the ground. He once told Billboard:
“I never do get nervous. I never do, I never did, I just go out there, do my thing, and it’s all good.”
5. You can hear a lot (like, a lot) of mashups of Mason songs.
The internet loves the yodeling as sample base, and it sure helps our cowboy hero to get famous and famous over time. Now, the mashups whit the new hit “Old Town Road” by Lil Mix are on, and Mason's reaction on that couldn't have been better.
We hope on hearing a lot more on this country fella.
