Union x Air Jordan 4 releases their colorful collection
UNION’s latest release is two colorful Air Jordan 4s with unique flip tongues plus a fresh colorway of the Zoom ‘92, and a new Delta Mid silhouette. The collection will consist of three silhouettes, Air Jordan 4, Jordan Zoom ’92 and Jordan Delta Mid, as well as a set of accompanying apparel.
Apart from this clever, customizable tongue, each is built from a cornucopia of different suedes. Thick and plush, the selected suede draws from Birkenstock sandals while the mesh is fully traditional for a nod to old-school ’80s kicks. Elsewhere, the Zoom ‘92 takes on a Guava Ice colorway and combines elements of the Air Jordan 7, Air Max 180, and Air Force 5 for a hybrid look that’s equal parts past and present. Translucent “wings” bring in a touch of conceptual style, and yellowed midsoles round the look off.
Looking to reverse the Blue-Light and Fusion Red colors found on the Off Noir colorway, we can now say these are 🔥 and we gotta love the contrast stitching especially — the sickest way to complete a brighter tone used with the Light Bone leather base complemented by the translucent wings and off-white netting.
AJ Delta Mid (Off Noir) The Union Jordan Delta Mid is the first time Jordan is offering this silhouette in a mid. It’s dressed in Off Noir with a suede upper that features red and blue pops towards the heel. Seamless interiors and thick foam tongues provide comfort and a React midsole finalizes the look.
Due to their non-traditional low tongue, the Union’s Air Jordan 4s garnered divisive opinions, but for a more classic look, the tongue can be unfolded. Gibbs said that “Back in the day, I had always liked to wear my Air Jordan 4s with a short tongue, so I would fold them over themselves and tie them down. We decided to fold the tongue over and stitch it down with the same stitch pattern that we used on the Air Jordan 1s. The good news here is that the stitch can be easily removed to reveal a normal tongue size if that’s your preference. Another fun detail is that with the tongue folded over the original AIR JORDAN interior branding now becomes external.”
The collection is to be released on August 29 @ Union's website for $250 USD.
