UNDERCOVER brought the leather sleeve down jacket
It's time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Japanese brand known for its punk-fused & American-influenced streetwear fits.
For that, UNDERCOVER brought together some of the brand's designer Jun Takahashi’s closest friends to recreate one of their key items: the leather sleeve down jacket.
The spin on UNDERCOVER's favorite leather piece was done by a range of 6 brands from fragment design, sacai, TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist, kolor to N.HOOLYWOOD.
These editions mix down cuts — and even bright shades and deconstructed design in kolor's case — on the seasonal staple jacket. For TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist, the designer transformed it into a ski-friendly piece with a hood and built-in googles.
sacai's designer Chitose Abe infused the leather body in a knit riders jacket with the saying "KEEP MAKING NOISE!!!" quilted to take the handmade vibe up a notch.
This range of takes on the same design is due to UNDERCOVER's always-fresh vision and elevated choice of details and leathers. The material allows them to be timeless and ground-breaking at the same time — especially with luxe brands that bring an artsy vibe to new releases.
Along with UNDERCOVER's original design, these edited and limited versions will be launching on January 9th at UNDERCOVER Japan stores and online.
Each design has its own price, starting at ¥120,000 JPY (approximately $1,200 USD) for the original version and going up to ¥240,000 JPY (approximately $2,300 USD) for the fragment design ones. The international launch is coming at a later date.
