in what way is your vision influenced by 1920 designers and what attracts you the most to the definitive style of this decade?
I like to get inspired by all different periods, styles, countries, and designers. It could be 19th century, 18th century, or the 20s, 40s, 60s. There are always good things in all different periods. I like to mix them in a very natural way, because we don't live in one certain period ― you combine things that are from your grandparents, and things that are very modern, and blend them all together. There isn’t just one very good period, they’re all interesting.
How do you apply leather’s capacity to adapt to each client’s individual taste and build multi-sensorial experiences both in car interiors and home interiors?
With leather, you can use the material for a different purpose, using different textures. It could be mousse, it could be suede, it could be matte, gloss. It could be thick or very soft, like skin. I have very talented craftsmen who are developing some finishes for me, all over the world, which are unique and made specifically for my use.
"LEATHER definitely provides LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES."
Each client has their own story so I have to develop different finishes, different colors. It's usually completely unique bespoke colors, each treated differently. And I would like to point out the fact that I develop some accessories as well. You may not spend all your life driving your car, but you can have some constant accessories like an umbrella, a bag, a little pochette, to continue the experience of car tailoring.
On what level does a timeless material like leather help you keep the luxurious past of classic cars and furniture alive while innovating fresh, modern designs?
I use leather a lot, but I also use different materials as well. Timelessness is a good point, we don't want this car to be fancy or trendy, and become dated in a short period of time. So, the design usually respects the period in which it was built, in terms of style. I use leather because yes, it's timeless, but it's very resistant to the purpose as well. I use it woven, perforated, treated in a different way. Leather, cotton, wool, cashmere, it’s boundless, I have no limit with material.
Here's to leather luxury that's tailored to last.
