The ordinary life of a superhero with no superpowers
Portraitist and visual artist SEBSTIAN MAGNANI, based in Zurich, imagined the daily adventures of Batman within the context of our normal, everyday reality and it's everything. Between several productions for journals and magazines and working two jobs, the photographer builds personal projects that mix imagination, humor, and poetry.
In this project, Magnani skillfully captures the aura of the mysterious superhero and then places it within the context of our normal lives. With the head on Batman's commitment to justice every day, he thought that maybe even Bat needs time, even if itβs only for a bit, just to have the feeling of a normal life outside of his work, which takes him completely β just be human.
Under a dynamic set and inspired by the comic's aesthetics, Sebastian Magnaniβs Batman plays with colors and actions and unveils a lucid universe that goes from Batman taking his leather cap off for a bath or playing chess while smoking a cigar β it's an ordinary, everyday life that questions the strangeness of our own existence.
It's intriguing that Magnani doesn't portray the superhero as Bruce Wayne, who could walk into a bar at any time unrecognized, and rather leaves him in his disguise. With this approach, he creates a charming, unique Batman who behaves much differently than how you might expect.
In this making of the shoot, the photographer said that "after 3 months of waiting to create my next at least 7 new Daily Bats, I got the permission to book the historic library Stiftsbibliothek St. Gallen Switzerland for 90 minutes. Iβm really honored". Def not an average day at Stiftsbibliothek St. Gallen.
