The new LV x NBA collab.
After convincing you to wear Louis Vuitton outerwear in the spring, it's time to prove that basketball is the sport that most delivers style and leather pieces. We're talking about the new NBA collab with LV for Pre-Fall ‘21, a capsule collection celebrating the influence of the sport on pop culture and design launching on May 28.
The collection brings references from the '90s and the strength of basketball that transformed the image of sports style, turning sneakers, shorts, and jackets into pieces full of concepts. Virgil Abloh and designer Don Crawley thought of the collection to imitate the wardrobe of a professional basketball player in three dress modes: travel, game, and press conference.
Travel has relaxed-cut designs, including pants and shirt sets in the same textures and LV monogram, a blouson and trouser emblazoned with a floral motif, leather hoodies, and a lot of shorts. The game line has several colorful printed shirts, sets, and light shorts imitating the design used for run and jump. For press conferences, Abloh left everything looking “dressed to close a millionaire contract” with sharply tailored suits, overcoats, and a graphic-embossed leather bomber offering a laid-back yet sophisticated style.
The accessories have not been forgotten, they are side bags and court bags in monogrammed leather, and there's also a design that uses nets to carry balls. The shoes are not limited to sneakers, the brand brought a leather loafer and an ankle boot model with a very striking tracted sole. Look for designs on LV's website and in authorized stores to score any of these.
