The Dreadhead Cowboy in leather boots became a target of slander
In late May, as protests against police brutality began to seize American cities, videos of a black man on horseback wearing a bulletproof vest spread widely on social media.
ADAM HOLLINGSWORTH, a 33-year-old Chicagoan, and his horse became the target of slander about the protests happening in the USA. People chose to automatically assume that he had stolen a horse. Not just stole a horse, but a police horse.
Well, the thing is there's no such thing as a horse with no name in this story, and Prince, the 13-year-old horse, one of four that Adam owns and rides around the city.โฃ He keeps them in a barn at his uncleโs house in Crete, a suburb of Chicago, and brings them out to the city almost every day, where he is known as the DREADHEAD COWBOY. R e s p e c t.
Adam had been streaming the unfolding events on Facebook Live and soon realized he could use his visibility to help โ both at the scene and online.
So when the apocalypse comes, you already know how to not go unnoticed: get up in a horse with a leather saddle, wearing a bulletproof vest and cowboy boots that are not really made for walking.
โWhen I was in my car on the way over there, I was scaredโ, said Hollingsworth to the Chicago Sun Times. โBut as I put on my vest, my cowboy hat and my cowboy boots, I started to feel more relaxed.โ
โMy goal is to give back to the community and then after I do that in the inner city and I accomplish my goal here, Iโm gonna branch off and start a tour through the Midwest,โ Hollingsworth said to WTTW. โIโm gonna hit seven states in the Midwest and hit the inner city in every state.โ
To realize his intercity horseback tour, Hollingsworth started a GoFundMe page for supplies, upkeep, and gas money.
We got you, Adam, keep fighting for peace on horseback. โ๐ฟ
