The 5 leather sneakers that made our eyes pop out during S/S '20 fashion shows.
Fashion shows are always that moment in the year where everyone turns their eyes to New York, Paris, and London.
They bring out a slew of celebrities from all industries, ranging from musicians and movie stars to athletes, models, and beyond. They also throw at our faces the latest and most exciting releases from pretty much all the top brands that’s worth paying attention to.
When it comes to on-feet moments, here’s our list of the 5 sneakers that made our eyes pop out during the last few weeks.
From in-house designs to surprising collaborations, they’re sure to make headlines for months to come.
1. Futura x Off-White™x Nike SB
Legendary graffiti artist Futura has once again joined forces with Louis Vuitton creative director and Off-White founder Virgil Abloh for Spring/Summer ’20. The result is two pairs of exclusive Nike SB Dunk Low sneakers.
Emblazoned with the logo of Futura’s recently-revived clothing label, the shoes also bring Abloh’s bold-face text printed towards the heel. Pay attention to the splattered paint and intertwined dual laces.
Oh, no release date has yet been confirmed.
2. Louis Vuitton
Sticking to Virgil Abloh, here’s one of his most exciting news for Louis Vuitton’s S/S ’20.
Plush suede and breathable mesh inform the muted sport shoes, reinforcing the brand’s luxury aesthetic. The shoes intelligently reinvent the house’s classic monogram into clever streetwear graphics, tweaking the LV branding into a stylized logo on the lateral side and embedded shapes in the heel.
3. OAMC x adidas Originals
If last year OAMC debuted its first ever collaboration with Adidas (remember Type 01?), this time they get together once again to present the world with Type 04 (yes, it doesn’t follow logical math).
Bringing the same deconstructionist detailing from its predecessor – see the minimalist facade and raw stitching near the ankle collar? –, Type 04 looks at hiking kicks to create a kind of a futuristic trail runner.
A sturdy nubuck upper peppered with mesh cut-outs, as well as its grippy Vibram outsole, informs the sneaker’s streamlined shape. Neutral tones ensure maximum versatility. And its shiny leather toe ad a more style-conscious touch that help translate OAMC’s vision for narrowing the lines between technical design and fashion-forward design.
4. A-COLD-WALL x Converse
Boasting quite elegant panels of premium leather and suede in muted earth tones, this shoe shows A-COLD-WALL once again innovation for S/S ’20.
For this brand new Converse Chuck Taylor, A-COLD-WALL’s designer (and founder) Samuel Ross brings new touches to past styles. Here, he wraps a lightweight ripstop upper inside custom rubber cages and laced with hiking-inspired eyelets, then completes it with an ankle strap and hefty midsole.
5) Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS
London-based designer Kiko Kostadinov has been collaborating with ASICS for quite a while now, pretty much since his label opened up for ready-to-wear collections. This time, Kostadinov joins the Japanese footwear brand for a style that sports patent leather and mesh in an alternating checkerboard pattern, offered in bright green and contrasting blue/yellow.
