Sit back and relax, BMW has the wheel
BMW is working toward making our futuristic sci-fi dreams of self-driving cars a reachable reality, and we're ready to hop in the (INCREDIBLY SPACIOUS) driver's seat.
The brand has dubbed their forward thinking Vision iNEXT, a concept inspired by the drive to craft the perfect vehicle inside & out, worthy of becoming a customer's favorite space. Their dream is not to just build wheels that can get you from point A to point B in luxury, but to create a transportive living space that feels as welcoming as the user's own home.
The best part? You can actually sit back and enjoy that home-y luxury because this model is envisioned to be completely self-driving. That's just an option, tho, for those who prefer the feeling of their hands on the wheel. In "Boost" mode, the interior of the iNEXT would be similar to any standard car, with the steering wheel and displays positioned clearly toward the driver. In "Ease" mode, the steering wheel retracts, allowing the driver to enjoy a generously sized cockpit while the car smoothly takes over your cruising.
Sustainability was at the top of BMW's mind when conceiving iNEXT.
The fully electric car completely eliminates the need for fossil fuels, and the intricately reliable craftsmanship BMW has come to be known for ensures that the car will hold its top performance for years.
For now, the iNEXT is still a thing of the future, and in the meantime you can watch BMW's short documentary about the innovative concept here. And join us for more iconic rides of the past, present, and future at our wheels content.
