Sebastian Mariscals Venice House
This dream house, located on a 5,600 square foot (520m) piece of land, was bought by Michael Sylvester and his wife Tamami.
In 2013, they hired the architect Sebastian Mariscal, whose work they had admired on the pages of Dwell. Together, they created this home that explores the idea of compound structures by integrating each section into the natural landscape, making us wish we could live there forever.
Blurring the distinction between indoor and outdoor living, Sebastian established a harmonious balance: each room in the house corresponds with the nearby outside space and has been built with natural daylight, keeping shadows and reflections in mind for unique lighting situations.
For example, a bold Brazilian Lounge Chair by Percival Lafer, with tufted upholstered leather cushion in the background here, contrasts with the outside natural breeze while managing to keep the flow in the counterpoise that Sebastian seems to want us to get from this amazing home.
In more detail, the entryway opens into a courtyard overlooking the main living pavilion. And throughout the home, interior spaces flow into outdoor areas via folding and sliding glass doors.
The dream house value is estimated at $4.2M, and you can get a closer look at all the green exterior in perfect harmony with the leathered interior.
