Santa Monica Proper Hotel: the go-to staycation
Time-off is looking different by the minute. But this hotel is bringing full staycation mode with a relaxing and beachy space like the Santa Monica's Proper Hotel in CA.
Interior designer Kelly Wearstler was the person behind the decor filled with eclectic leather furniture she found in vintage shops. All to give a feels-like-home vibe to the hotel.
"The furniture is not just the normal vintage pieces that you would associate with California easy living. There's a lot of really great anomalies," Wearstler shared.
Santa Monica's Proper occupies a 1920s building, which means all the vintage furniture matches the curved structure as an invitation for you to stay and unwind.
These intimate and thoughtfully designed spaces — for all-day dining, coffee, or canoodling — feature organic-like leather pieces and a mural by local artist Ben Medansky for that mash-up of timeless and contemporary.
The hand-selected finds from vintage shops took Wearstler years searching. As the designer said, "this gives all of the interior spaces so much soul – as if a couple that had traveled to all corners of the globe returned home to their luxuriously patinated collection of art and furnishings."
And if a staycation makes us feel like we're traveling all over, it's the right one.
