RG Conopio custom the Kobe V Protro for Nikko Ramos' wedding
Host of the Call to Arms podcast Nikko Ramos built his career and personal brand around basketball fandom and pop culture ― so it came as no surprise to fans and friends when he made his sneakerhead mentality part of his wedding day to the multitalented Bea Fabregas.
With the impressive combined shoe collection the couple boasts, it was only fitting for the pair to rock wedding-day shoegame unlike any other ― and with the help of designer RG Conopio and men's custom footwear producer R.E. Craftsman, the big day became a two-shoe affair.
The first pair began with a crazy challenge from Ramos to RG Conopio: re-work the iconic Kobe V Protro into a dress shoe. The craft-oriented creator delivered, building a 100% unique pair with a completely handmade upper in pebbled, nappa, and sheep leather. The kicks are completed with an embroidered Kobe sheath logo, and the BEA RMS detail on the back plus waxed round laces ― all delivered on a protro midsole.
Ramos's second pair was conceived during a fitting at J.E. & Company, where he was connected with Rafael Ebarle of R.E. Craftsman who not only insisted on creating a custom pair for the big day, but offering the opportunity for Ramos to design the shoes from scratch, down to the last detail. The perfectly-fit result combines Ramos's favorite style of classic yet rule-breaking.
Name a better wedding gift than one-of-a-kind crafted kicks. We'll wait.
