Overgaard & Dyrman's Wire collection
Behind every Overgaard & Dyrman's work there's a bridge between past and present. But the Wire collection pushes that even further.
In our previous chat with founders Jasper Overgaard and Christian Dyrman of the Danish furniture maker, we had a close look at how they merge traditional craft and modern tech in an all local production. But that's even clearer on their mix of saddle-making and precision metalwork.
"We advocate an approach to design where we use materials for what they are good at, and where we highlight important functional details instead of hiding them."
They looked for traditional horse saddles for its role of being the comfort yet supportive layer. The leather straps on the Wire Dinning Chair, Lounge Sofa, Bar Stool, Lounge Chair and Stool embrace every piece and is an essential part of what makes it so distinctive and possible to improve with age.
"Our Wire Collection pieces are based on a steel frame, going from a very structural element where it meets the ground to a more organic shape where it embraces the body."
You can explore the whole collection here — but keep in mind that every piece is made to order. Meaning they take care from its conscious production from start to finish, not allowing overproduction.
