Olympic snowboarder Christophe Schmidt
If the word board is involved, you bet Christophe Schmidt will be there.
The two-time Olympic snowboarder & owner of Weekend Heroes, Auxietre & Schmidt, Banzai Skateboards & a vintage Porsche collection has adventure running through his veins.
In a recent chat with auto magazine Type 7, Christophe opened up about what his life is like after a day at the office in Munich — which includes a spin in the vintage leather seats of his Porsche 356 & a stop at the Eisbach Wave, a full-fledged river surfing wave in the middle of the city.
“With the first money I earned from snowboarding, I bought my first old Porsche, a ’71 2.2 911S Targa in conda green, which I still own today. This 356 I bought eight years ago. I looked for a couple of years - all over the world - to find a good car at a decent price.
And then I ended up buying this car, I don't know, five minutes from my home. I had seen the owner with the car a couple of years back and I always told him when I saw him that if he were to sell it one day, he needed to let me know. And then he said, 'You know, I'm really attached to this car because I got married in this car, or I drove it to my wedding with my wife. So I cannot really sell it.' But one day he tells me, ‘Okay, I'm ready to sell it.’"
Christophe's career has always been connected to his enthusiasm for classic cars. Historical pieces with classic designs & timeless leather seats are part of his personal collection, as well as of his work curating for Weekend Heroes and Auxietre & Schmidt, motorcar shops located in Versailles and Munich.
From riding his Porsche & catching a river surf wave to sitting in his fave leather chair, Schmidt is def a life enthusiast.
