New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore P550 Basketball Oxford
New Balance has once again partnered with Aimé Leon Dore, and this time they brought back the P550 Basketball Oxford.
For this new initiative, the two brands are collaborating and expanding their dual efforts past the launching of the collection through their community, launching the project through Team SONNY, a local 15u AAU basketball team.
This latest project focuses on the P550 Basketball Oxford 1984, an uncommon hoops shoe launched in 1984, being both a sports shoe and a fancy leather sneaker. Every pair is dressed up against otherwise plain backgrounds in vibrant tones.
Aimé Leon Dore's series of collaborations with New Balance has put both brands at the top of the watch list for sneakers and menswear since they first teamed up last year to relaunch the classic New Balance 850.
S/O to the Aimé Leon Dore's x New Balance 827, with a similar structure of colors as the new drop: a color-blocked silhouette, detailed with striking blue, red, green, and yellow accents giving life to their white base.
With a textured leather "N" logo and embossed 550 emblem, the P550 classic low top sneaker features supple leather uppers. For a retro aesthetic, the shoes rest on top of a subtly yellowed outsole and come finished with a custom heel print and co-branded tongue label and insoles.
The pair also features full-grain leather upper and perforated leather panels, with contrasting crackled logos on the sides and the collaboration logo on the textile tongue.
