Ned Flanders finally wasn’t left out with this new adidas x The Simpsons launch.
Although Homer Simpson wouldn’t agree, one thing we can say is that the new The Simpsons x adidas McCarten snkrs certainly deserve the spotlight.
For the next launch of the partnership, known as Left-Handers Rule, adidas took Ned Flanders as an inspiration to produce the green leather sneakers that match the signature sweater he wears during all seasons of the longest-running American animated show.
"Kids, did anybody pray for giant shoes!?"
Along with the brown suede and stitching around the toebox, which gives the pair a moccasin-like appearance, there’s a bright pink trim on the collar, a reference to Flander’s classic shirt.
And since this fresh take on the McCarten works as a tribute to left-handers, the sneakers come packaged in a Leftorium box, Flanders’ store dedicated to left-handed people, and are also accompanied by an exclusive leather hangtag.
The McCarten style is already known for bringing a super casual aesthetic to shoes that are not entirely sneakers or loafers. Part of an adidas Spezial collection designed by Gary Aspden, the pair first introduced in 2017 has maybe found a new opportunity to gather together The Simpsons die-hard fans and adidas collectors, who can expect The Simpsons x adidas McCarten Ned Flanders to release on October 3 for US$130.
Talking about fans, this is not the first time they were presented with collabs that bring out the best of fiction to mainstream streetwear, as you can check here.
What’s left for us then is to think whether The Simpsons were able to predict Flanders being part of some dope fits in 2021.
Would you have these in your collection? Find out how to make them last longer, just as The Simpsons and its infinite seasons.
