Meet Deb Never.
Maybe you're not one of her loyal Instagram followers or don't listen to music on SoundCloud, but you'll Dissociate with the atmosphere of DEB NEVER. Owner of a soft voice, Los Angeles via Pacific Northwest artist mixes grunge-y, Lo-Fi, and trap beats into very instinctive songs.
Even if this is the first time you read her name, she's been around for a while. DEB has been making music since she was a kid and taught herself to play guitar when she was 11 yo. Before LA, she lived in Washington, Korea, and Malaysia and listened to emo music on headphones like many of us at that stage, which may have influenced her layered compositions. Soft, but deep.
To start listening, like now, take a look at the recently dropped Disassociate music video. Despite being a smooth sound, Dev reflects strength wearing a leather set that shows her way, but without excess. Also, listen to the Intermission EP she produced during quarantine.
Did you notice any similarities in sound to Brockhampton? She has a collab on their album Ginger with a feature on the song No Halo, but the boy-band encounters don't stop there. A few weeks ago, we showed you all the details of the Adidas Forum comeback and the #CreatedWithAdidas campaign for a collection of creatives from various areas, including Kevin Abstract.
Now, who appears wearing the premium leather kicks is DEV, for the same campaign, with support from her friend Abstract in her Instagram comments. Will we have more collabs?
