Marcela B values local designs.
Do you usually consume designs from your neighbourhood? If you haven't stopped to pay attention to local productions, know that this is a great way to know the origin of your clothes and shoes and still value the right people.
In our most recent conversation with Marcela B, founder of her namesake Brazilian brand, she went deep on the creative process behind her leather shoes – the "carioca" aura of each of her designs that make them practical and authentic. Check it out here.
So, we couldn't quit asking her about the brand's relationship with their local community, since Marcela B reinvents silhouettes working with Brazilian leather, valuing the country's identity and handmade work 🇧🇷.
"To say that Brazil is a culturally rich country is redundant."
"But in fact, I miss a greater confidence from Brazilian designers in developing their projects. We always fall prey to what comes from abroad and this means that our industry does not face any challenges." Marcela told us.
"We trust in our natural wealth and potential as creators."
"When we travel to Europe and look back at Brazil, we realize how original we are. We need to be proud of ourselves and to believe in our country."
Marcela also comments about the variety of Brazilian designers doing incredible works with national leather, and how social media brought creators closer to the rest of the world.
"There are certainly a lot of cool people doing very original work. Social networks have enabled us to learn more about brands."
"I have also admired brands that respect what is local
— which raise greater awareness of the use of local resources — and through technology are making their work accessible globally." Complete.
