Louis Vuitton reveals two new footwear silhouettes.
This July, Louis Vuitton made sure the men's Fall/Winter 2019 Collection stays in our memories for a very long time. Their eye-catching pop-up store in New York City was all painted in a loud, neon green — some may call it trendy, yet Virgil Abloh suggested once that it acts like a green screen.
The limited-time residence remained opened for only nine days (from July 12-21) at 100 Rivington St. In case you're wondering, it's the exact same intersection in the Lower East Side portrayed on the cover of the Beastie Boys album “Paul’s Boutique”. Louis Vuitton described it as a “transatlantic exchange” — earlier this year, its F/W '19 show in Paris recreated the corner of Rivington and Ludlow Streets.
The acid green color goes from a bicycle and the trash bags on the sidewalk outside to the entire building's brick façade, decor, and mannequins. This freshly neon space turns out to be a home for some faves from Virgil Abloh's Fall/Winter menswear 2019 collection, like the patches inspired by Louis Vuitton's archives, Monogram legacy accessories, rainbow and prism leather goods.
Off-work, Abloh is currently the subject of an exhibition “Figures of speech” at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago (MCA).
Soon after closing the pop-up store, LV announces two new drops.
And we're already begging for a place to try those on: the Luxembourg & the Rivoli sneakers. The LV Monogram combined with the rainbow gradient are the key themes running through Virgil Abloh's late creations. Now, they arrive onto two new footwear silhouettes, both produced in Italy.
The Rivoli sneaker boot is a suede hi-top model, featuring the pattern and a branded Velcro strap that can be fixed from the heel or the front. And the Luxembourg has the shape of a classic sneaker, showing the monogram on all sides.
Like what you see?
Both the Luxembourg and Rivoli can be found now on Louis Vuitton's online store.
