Kamikaze II Peace Day snkrs is a drip of psychedelia
Debuted in 1995, to match Shawn Kemp’s style of play on the court, the Reebok Kemp line combined with the rise of Kemp's supersonic dominating force that coined The Reignman. And there was only one look his signature shoe could have: bolder than bold. That’s exactly what the Reebok Kamikaze line brought to the table again with the Kamikaze II Peace Day sneakers.
These full leather REEBOKs explores chromatic divergence with their Kamikaze II Peace Day. The absolute classic favors a full-leather construction and starts off with a tumbled leather and nubuck upper that’s then covered in graphics noted on the signature zigzag design.
Unlike the silhouette’s standard version, the wavy detailing indulges in a melted aesthetic commonly associated with psychedelic experiences.
Hits of vibrant blue, orange, yellow, and green further contribute to the trippy arrangement, which appears most prominently on the heel and spills onto the midsole.
Tongues on right shoes are stamped with a similarly-styled peace symbol, same with the sock-liners on both shoes. Underfoot, a semi-translucent tread completes the classic Reebok model.
Since relaunching in May, the Reebok Kamikaze II has steered towards classic color arrangements. A recently-surfaced iteration, however, forgoes any tried-and-true palettes in favor of a psychedelic-styling.
Interested readers can pick up the Reebok Kamikaze II Peace Day when they release on International Peace Day, September 21st. They will retail for $130.
