DeLorean: From an innovative car to a movie legend.
DeLorean's success is nothing new, mainly because it's not just a car, it's a movie star.
What you might not know is that John DeLorean, the creator of this sports car, was an innovator and a dreamer who went out of his way to put his ideas out into the world.
For better or worse, it was this desire to fulfill his dreams at any cost that made him quit his job at General Motors and open his own business, now the mythical DeLorean Motor Company, or DMC.
Long before Elon Musk gave life to cyberpunk wheels and was involved in scandals on social media, John DeLorean already imagined fantastic machines that represented his vision of the future, and he went bankrupt for it.
DeLorean's idea was to create the most ethical, fuel-efficient, and long-lasting sports car the world had ever seen, and for that design, he relied on Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. In addition to the striking shape previously designed for a Porsche and the iconic gull-wing doors, the Italian leather interior of this car is as unforgettable as the movie.
Before becoming a legend, the DeLorean started selling for US$25K, which didn't appeal to consumers at the time. Lucky are those who made the investment in the ’80s, because today the bids for Marty McFly's car go far away from here.
