Clean interiors with leather goods in Canada.
ATELIER BARDA, a well-known architectural firm, is the name behind Residence Alma, a full renovation project of a 20th-century residential triplex in Montreal, Canada.
By redeveloping an existing commercial ground floor space, as well as consolidating two upper floor apartments, they were able to design a family home while respecting the building’s history and fully redesigning its interior.
Focused on preserving the traditional but adding fresh and raw minimalism, the team was able to bring elements that present the best of the transition between what's old and what's new, like the large dining table surrounded by casual leather seats that's well-positioned to take advantage of natural lighting.
The open-air courtyard adds a much-needed pop of nature to what used to be a quite clean and brutal interior. Something Kanye West would like in his new home.
The aesthetic inside combines high-end pieces with clean lines, avoiding excess, while the black furniture, such as the Extrasoft modular leather sofa by Piero Lissoni for Living Divani, adds a sharp contrast to the white interior.
The architects also made subtle cuts and additions to the façade, generating a more discreet access to the residence and adding rounded brick columns that contrast with the strict angular design of the original structure.
Working with the uniqueness of each order and customer, ATELIER BARDA is responsible for breathtaking ideas that mix minimalism with bold leather furniture, giving life even to the most unpretentious spaces.
