Bill Amberg is headed to the Museum on a Norton motorcycle
Leathercraft is so important and fundamental for some cultures and communities that it deserves a museum exclusively for itself.
The National Leather Collection, for example, has existed since 1946 and cares for one of the largest collections of items and information related to leather in the world. It is based in the heart of the UK’s leather and footwear industry, Northampton, like Bill Amberg, the leather authority with whom we talked here.
Bill advocates the use of the best materials and celebrates the essence of leather in his designs but he also participates in it culturally. This Norton motorcycle is customized with the seat and handlebars made of the same leather used in one of the pieces of the National Leather Collection.
Unfortunately, the museum is closed during the pandemic, but you can take a virtual tour.
