Beyonce honor her history in her new single Black Parade
To kick off this Juneteenth weekend this year, Beyoncé surprised fans by dropping a new single, 'Black Parade'. She also shared several Black-owned businesses and creators on her website for her fans to support, and soon after released the new song which celebrates the abolishment of slavery, especially in the state of Texas, in 1865. Proceeds from streams and downloads of the new song will go to BeyGOOD's Black Business Impact Fund, administered by the National Urban League.
This song is a call-to-action and a salve for a wounded nation, representing the artist's transition from using music as a vehicle for pop domination to using it as a means to spread support of Black pride — front and center, in all of its iterations. Amid a wave of protests and revolutions going on worldwide, the song comes at the perfect time for remembering the origin of Black power and heritage, as a reminder to keep looking for ways to be proud of who you are.
On her IG account, Queen B wrote:
"I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength, and power. "
And signed off with a powerful message:
“BLACK PARADE” celebrates you, your voice, and your joy and will benefit Black-owned small businesses".
Now that you know all about it, tap play and enjoy the anthem.
