Andrew Bell's boots use deadstock leather donated by ReBurberry
ANDREW BELL is a creative looking at alternative means to design. His fresh and striking aesthetic is the key to unpick the conventional and push forward with modern technologies.
He uses cutting-edge sonic welding technology, setting aside the binding hallmark of the fashion industry, the needle and string.
Square Toe Door Wedge Boots in burgundy is a collaboration with Tabitha Ringwood which used deadstock leather donated by Burberry. This pair features hand-sanded and painted leather soles, hand-cut zig-zag detail, leather lining, and Bell's heavy-duty door wedge heels.
To Bell, modern designers are too attached to old-fashioned techniques and ways of designing. He searches for alternative ways and tools to make his projects original and enduring.
The Croc-Embossed Door-Wedge Boo is also dreamed of, produced, and born in collaboration with Tabitha Ringwood. In leather, this pair has hand-cut zig-zag details and was produced with the help of Ilias Little Shoe Box.
The Square-Toe Door-Wedge Boots in Dark Olive is made of premium, long-lasting leather. Andrew's creativity projects a signature look that's sharp, compact, and concise, forming one-of-a-kind shaped leather shoes.
The Knee-High Croc-Embossed Door Wedge Boots are another example of what is at the heart of Bell’s work, designs that are engaging and side-stepping the familiar, traditional, and pre-determined.
With Future Tailoring being the concept the designer chooses to transcribe and express his approach, Andrew's work projects an unconventional view of what's to come.
Andrew is one of the students across the UK helped by the ReBurberry Fabric, an initiative created by Burberry to donate leftover materials to fashion education. Besides reusing leather to create incredible pieces, the project provides the canvas for many graduate collections.
Hopefully, using deadstock will become a natural part of the design practice.
