6 things you didn't know about Cole Sprouse.
You may know Cole's (and his twin brother's) face from being a child actor on big productions like Big Daddy, Friends, and Disney's The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.
But he's more than ever making sure we catch how different Cole's and Dylan Sprouse's personalities and passions are.
The now Riverdale actor has a big connection with fashion editorials and high-end brands. His artistic vision goes beyond big screens as he manages not only 2 but 3 (or more) careers to indulge his passions.
That's why we listed 6 facts you didn't know about Cole Sprouse. Scroll down to dive in.
1. He was born in Italy
But he's not Italian.
He and Dylan were born in Arezzo, Italy, because his parents (Americans) were teaching English in Tuscany. Four months after the twins were born, the family moved to Long Beach, California.
2. He makes camera duels with people that take pictures of him.
After he realized too many people were embodying paparazzi and taking pictures of him without his permission, Cole created an Instagram account called @camera_duels. It's filled with photos of fans trying to take sneaky pics of him and — as he explains in the bio — is dedicated "to the people out there who secretly take photos of me, and how I take photos of them first. May the fastest camera win."
The inspiration? "Rage".
3. He had a huge crush on Jennifer Aniston while filming Friends.
A big part of being a child actor is having to deal with work situations while being... a child.
In an interview with the New York Post, Cole shared that he had a big crush on Aniston while on the set of Friends — on which he played Ben when he was just 12: "I had a really, really hard time working with Aniston because I was so in love with her. I was infatuated. I was speechless. I'd get all bubbly and forget my lines and completely blank… it was so difficult."
4. He took a multi-year break from acting to work with archaeology.
Cole spent many years away from the spotlight. In college, he studied archaeology, geographic information systems, and satellite imaging. And ended up working with that for a bit before going back to acting — and he said on Vogue 73 Question that he imagines going back to the field later in life.
Archaeology sparked his attention because his grandfather was a geologist and the fields seemed "competitive and challenging."
5. But his acting bug was thanks to his grandma.
His grandmother, an actress and drama teacher, was the one that suggested that he and his twin brother Dylan should get into the acting career when they were just eight months old to help pay the bills. The first gig, you ask? A diaper commercial.
6. He's also passionate about photography
And this one is thanks to his dad. But it's not only a passion, it kinda became a career.
"It was depression that drove me to do it. That's the real truth. It was depression that led me to the camera. It heals you know, a hobby. There's no bandaid like a hobby," he wrote.
His portfolio includes big names such as Adidas and an editorial for Elle magazine on which he captured the ends of the Earth in Iceland with leather drips by Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, and Sacai for protection and incredible visuals.
The editorial aimed to attract responsible tourism to Iceland to support the fight against climate changes and melting glaciers. Perfect aiming ❄️.
