Being a model was not in Alton Mason's plans. His father was a basketball player and his mother, a model. He traveled the world during his childhood because his dad played overseas, but at the age of 17, he settled in Los Angeles, where he began to study dance and theater. His talent was soon noticed by the American choreographer Laurieann Gibson, famous for working for names like Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj.

In 109 years of existence, the brand had never included a black male professional in its shows, but the North American Alton Mason made history by participating in the label's 2018 pre-fall show.

May 2017 marked a turning point in Alton Mason’s career and got him noticed by Alessandro Michele, who invited him to pose for the Italian fashion house’s 2017 Pre-Fall campaign.

The 22-year-old model's personal style reflects his eclectic way of life, and adheres to no time, place, or gender, at any given moment.
