4 things you didn't know about Nicolas Cage.
Did you know NICOLAS CAGE's pig has recently been kidnapped? Not quite, but it seems that there's always some unusual story going around the star. 🐖
Nicolas Cage is starring in a just-premiered independent movie called Pig, about a truffle hunter in the wilderness of Oregon that has his foraging pig kidnapped and has to face his past in order to search for the animal. Despite the peculiar synopsis, both the movie and Cage have received high critical praise.
Although his career has been focused more on the independent movie scene lately with movies such as Pig, he has gained a large following, particularly due to his more over-the-top performances.
But we bet you didn't know these 4 facts about him:
1. He's a leather jacket god.
The line separating Nicolas Cage the person and Nicolas Cage the actor is constantly blurring. Cage’s life is so undeniably cinematic that in another new movie, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, he'll even play himself. The glue that connects movie Cage and real-life Cage? Leather jackets.
Images of Cage on the set showed the actor wearing a pink leather biker jacket affixed with patches. It's the ideal piece of clothing for him to play himself because real-life Nic Cage’s outrageous collection of leather jackets is virtually bottomless—an endless bounty of studded, patterned, golden, and shiny pieces.
2. He was spotted visiting his own tomb (and yeah, in a leather jacket).
In 2020, Nic and a mystery woman were spotted holding hands in matching leather outfits as they checked out the actor's tomb in New Orleans, Louisiana. They went to the famous cemetery in New Orleans' French Quarter to see the nine-foot-tall pyramid tomb that Cage bought for himself in 2010.
💒 That was the first time he was pictured with a rumored girlfriend after his four-day-long Las Vegas marriage to a makeup artist. And this leather-matching-outfit-to-visit-tomb date was actually a really good one because they got married this year. His fifth marriage.
3. He's afraid of Hollywood.
In a recent interview with Variety, he brought up that he doesn't know if he'd like to go back to Hollywood movies. He said there were a lot of fun moments, but that was just a high-pressure game. With independent movies, he claims to have more freedom to experiment and be fluid as an actor.
"I don’t know if I’d want to go and make another Disney movie. It would be terrifying. It’s a whole different climate. There’s a lot of fear there.”
4. But he's only afraid of Hollywood.
More than having purchased a pyramid tomb for himself, he also has already slept in Dracula's Castle and bought the most haunted mansion in the world just so he could write a horror novel in it. ⚰️
While promoting Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, in 2011, actor Idris Elba recalled an incident on a location in Romania. Noticing Cage appeared tired one day, Elba asked if he had gotten any rest. “Yeah man, I went up to Dracula's castle... the ruins up in the mountains, and I stayed the night,” Cage said referring to Bran Castle near Transylvania, which may have been the inspiration for Dracula’s residence in the original Bram Stoker novel.
And about the haunted mansion? Well, what better atmosphere to write a scary bunch of prose than a haunted house? This was Cage’s motivation for purchasing the LaLaurie Mansion in New Orleans in 2007, which once belonged to serial killer Madame Delphine LaLaurie.
🏚️ He lost it to foreclosure in 2009 and didn’t get too far with the novel. But that's definitely already a story worth telling.
