4 seats by Italian architect and designer Cini Boeri.
You may not know her by her birth name, Maria Cristina Mariani Dameno, but Cini Boeri left her mark by believing that beauty was the result of function and only took pleasure from adding useful, long-lasting architecture and design to the world.
Boeri graduated in architecture in the 1950s, worked with industrial design until 1963, and then founded her own office, Cini Boeri Architetti. Her creations have always had a strong relationship with materials, manufacture, and technology, as she made modular pieces without waste.
For her, the purpose of each project, be it a piece of design or a building, was to help people and give them a beautiful experience. And that is what she did with her work until the end, because unfortunately, we lost her in September 2020. In honor of her brilliant life and career, we chose 4 of her designs that made lucky spaces unique.
1. Gradual Set for Knoll
These sofas come in a modular set often used by the designer, as we mentioned. The black leather armchairs were created in collab with Knoll furniture in the '70s, as you can see by the modernist aesthetic.
2. Past Armchair
A design that reflects Cini's minimalism, this piece is simple in shape but bold in its proposal. It's possible to exchange Past's leather cover for any color, in addition to the classic black and white.
3. Strips
Made with Artflex, with which the designer worked for a long time, this sofa has an Italian leather cover. Made in 1968, it was awarded the prize Compasso d'Oro and it's displayed in several museums in the world. It's considered one of her works that consistently highlights the psychological connection between humans and their environment.
4. Brigadier
Another internationally known piece made with Knoll in the '70s, the Brigadier format was and still is striking, as it has a very low leather upholstery and is fully modular.
Fortunately, we'll always have her creations to remember the revolution in architecture and design from her human, free, and innovative point of view.
