This love story of leather and silver lasts for decades

They're everywhere: from Rihanna's closet to California motorcycle clubs to collaborations with Virgil Abloh. The trend is far from a newcomer or simply the trend brand of the moment: they've been around since the ‘80s, cultivating an entire biker-inspired lifestyle with premium quality leather, jewelry, and home goods for over three decades.

The Los Angeles label Chrome Hearts was originally founded by Richard Stark and his friend John Bowman. They started the business in an L.A. garage in early 1988. Bowman was a manufacturer of leather goods and Stark was selling top grade raw leathers. The story starts with the unsuccessful search of Stark and Bowman for leather jackets: they couldn't find the styles they wanted, so they decided to make them on their own. A short time after, the sterling silver jeweler Leonard Kamhout joined their adventure.

With so many silver pieces and leather goods, it didn't take long until the brand was established as an essential part of rockstar closets and started to catch the attention of more and more stars over time. And just like that, they started to join the closets of models, influencers, and big names of the rap world non-stop.

Celebs like Post Malone, Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian, and Karl Lagerfeld have frequently worn Chrome Hearts apparel and accessories like their leather jackets donning silver hardware. The brand has also been championed by Jesse Jo Stark, singer and daughter of the brand's founder Richard Stark and Laurie Lynn, who's a huge fan of their leather boots and silver goods.

Over the years, Chrome Hearts has also been a purveyor of everything from leather and wooden furniture to $6,000 toilet plungers and even truffle shavers. Their assortment of goods is vast, to say the least, but two of their most widely recognizable items these days are probably their trucker hats emblazoned with gothic fonts and $1,750 denim adorned with leather crosses that have become ubiquitous with big-name rappers like Drake and Offset.
