Serapian Being Milanese FW 21/22 collection.
The soul of Milan alone is elegant, creative, and recognized worldwide for its design, as well as the whole essence of Serapian. In its nearly 100 years of existence, the Milanese brand has never abandoned the essence of craftsmanship in leather, making each of its creations truly timeless, as we have already shown you here and here.
For its FW ’21 collection Being Milanese, the brand prepares a tribute to its city of birth with a team of 20 Italian professionals from the most diverse areas who breathe art, architecture, music, and much more. The idea is to showcase Serapian leather bags, which are real treasures, throughout the city.
“Each and every individual selected for this project is a genuine Friend of the Maison, each representing a different facet of our city, ranging from philanthropy to photography, from architecture to music with many sectors in between. This spectrum is incredibly diverse with the creatives ranging from fresh talents to well-established professionals.
Each person was photographed in a specific location of their choice, meaning that they showed us their most cherished places in Milano, making the result even more personal. The settings revealed hidden gems scattered across the city, which is very Milanese as it is a city full of secrets. Along with being more personal, it also allowed for their personal perspectives to blend seamlessly with our collection. The entire project was photographed by Guido Taroni, a renowned Milanese photographer,” they told us.
The bags in this collection reflect the history of the brand. They work piece by piece, paying attention to every detail of the authentic and classic mosaics that exude a fresh approach, the new Milanese, a complete cultural experience in design.
“Being Milanese at its core means to have a cosmopolitan mindset while still being guided by tradition. It means following precise guidelines regarding style and taste but always with an innate curiosity of the know-how and craftsmanship. The Milanese taste for beauty often derives from the ingenuity of knowing how things are made.
Just think of the Industrial Design industry. The Milanese love to do their research and ask people where they found a particular object. They love to explore and discover new trends, rejuvenating historical crafts and know-how,” they said.
The collection has highlights such as the Secret Clutch in mosaic craft with its hand-woven soft Nappa stripes, an exclusive weaving process dating back to 1947. Some colors of Milano turn into references, alluding to the city’s originality in experimenting with bold palettes, such as amaranth, melon, and mint green.
