Rick Owens reworks Converse Weapon for this new collab.
Rick Owens’ never hid the fact that his work was made to disturb.
This time, the DRKSHDW label and its unique aesthetics give rise to a whole new silhouette for the Weapon, an ‘80s Converse classic.
Following the designer’s latest take on the brand’s famous snkrs, Rick Owens x Converse Weapon TURBOWPN flirts with proportion, resulting in black – of course – chunky leather kicks with elongated tongues and double-sized outsoles, inspired by the edge of DRKSHDW boots.
“When I discovered how powerful just oversizing something a little bit was, which I’ve done with a lot of my clothes, that became one of my tools.”
By transforming the Weapon into the TURBOWPN, Owens keeps bringing some unusual yet completely alluring designs for Converse classics. One recent example, a little less approachable, is last month’s release TURBODRK Chuck 70, which features a triple square-shaped toe cap and double sole.
Owens’ TURBOPWN is to be released on August 31 on the Rick Owens and Converse websites, but the pricing is yet to be confirmed.
Anyway, watch your step while walking in these tall, dark and edgy shoes.
