Louis Vuitton Spring Summer '22 collection by Virgil Abloh.
The world has lost a genius, friends and family have lost a loyal man, but in design, Virgil Abloh will live forever.
Last Tuesday, Louis Vuitton continued to celebrate Abloh's legacy by presenting its SS '22 collection in Miami, with the presence of many artists and celebs.
Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton's chairman and CEO, said, "Virgil was not only a friend, great collaborator, creative genius, visionary, and disruptor, but also one of the best cultural communicators of our times." And he definitely deserves that his creations continue on that path.
This collection blends the designer's streetwear essence with the brand's leather goods strength, bringing back varsity jackets, sports pants, and many hats. The colorful and oversized leather coats stood out, as did the combat boots and the big bags.
Among those attending, there were close friends and co-workers such as Kanye West, with whom Abloh created the covers for 808s & Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Yeezus, and Watch the Throne. In addition to Kid Cudi and Offset – who walked the catwalk wearing leather boots and carrying a suitcase – Gunna, 21 Savage, Lil Baby, and Pharrel also paid their homage.
Abloh got a statue in front of the performance, as well as a firework show in the sky saying “Virgil Was Here.” And he always will be.
Here’s our tribute to Virgil Abloh’s legacy.
