Home Alone and 7 more movies to get you in the Christmas mood.
So it's that time of year again.
Fortunately, thanks to advances in science — thank you science — we will be able to be with our loved ones for the holidays. Which reminds us that it's necessary to put something on TV to escape from some conversation starters "How's your date life?" or "Did you see your cousin got a promotion?"
To help you out with that, we made a list of unconventional Christmas movies, you know, we couldn't repeat the basics. Here are the classics and current ones that will never leave your playlist.
1. Nightmare Before Christmas (1993).
What's better than a Christmas movie? A Christmas movie that’s also a Halloween movie. This time of year is paired with musicals, and of course, with making everything possible.
2. Carol (2015).
A romance that starts with leather gloves, anything else? Oh yes, Cate Blanchett.
3. Gremlins (1984).
Before the internet told us all the time to stay hydrated, movies warned us about the risks of giving water to your weird pet.
4. Little Women (2019).
When your aunts start talking about marriage and kids, invite them to learn a few things from this classic revived by Greta Gerwig.
5. Tangerine (2015).
A queer comedy about a broken heart shot with a phone that made it to the Sundance Festival. Thank us later.
6. Last Holiday (2006).
If at the end of the year you need a dose of hope and change, this movie is ideal to remind you to start enjoying your life now. Seriously, right now.
7. Happy Christmas (2015).
This is basically for millennials or anyone who's in need of a signal to get out of a bad place. The signal is here.
8. Home Alone 2 (1992), of course.
You can do a marathon with 1 too, but NYC is like Christmas, and Macaulay Culkin eating pizza on the seats of a Limo just like us.
