GMC teamed up with Extreme E for all-electric GMC Hummer EV
GMC didn't come to play this year. They've already announced a multi-year sponsorship with Chip Ganassi Racing as they create the team's first electric racing venture for the inaugural Extreme E season in Saudi Arabia in April 2021.
The ride is based on a big name for electric SUVs, the 2023 GMC Hummer EV (which is planned to begin selling in late 2021) with the main parts based on a spec racer called the Spark Odyssey 21 from Extreme E.
Powered by a 550hp electric motor, this ride — besides highlighting the capabilities of electric propulsion — shows how the whole industry of these competitions could be more sustainable. By exploring the leather interior of the GMC Hummer EV in a new way, this unique rally SUV is prepared for any desert while keeping the off-road racers Kyle LeDuc and Sara Price comfortable and secure.
“I can’t think of a better fit than showcasing the look of GMC’s Hummer EV in Extreme E with Chip Ganassi Racing. Both GMC Hummer EV and the Extreme E series are designed to be revolutionary – to challenge perceptions of electric vehicles and to showcase their true capability,” said Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. vice president.
The upcoming 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUV is already making a name for itself even before really dropping, continuing the Hummer's pioneer path as the world's first all-electric supertruck.
