Giant Burberry leather bag spotted floating down Thames River.
Well, after you really looked at it, it was not that unidentified. Squinting at the structure keeping it afloat, those who witnessed it could see the Burberry name, or recognize the Olympia design, and realize that it was a giant leather handbag. And a national treasure.
Against the stark city backdrop, the huge polished camel hue of the well-known premium leather bag is really impressive.
Burberry carried out a series of international popups to celebrate the Olympia bag, a signature design from the fashion house. Described by the company as “a structured and sculptural bag, a celebration of modern classicism," the bag is defined by its unique circular silhouette.
The popup spaces, with Harrods as the chosen first location, aimed to honor the aesthetics, craftsmanship, and inspiration of the bag.
The huge timeless design bag was first spotted at the City Hall. After embarking on its cruise from the Royal Victoria Docks, it passed the Tower Bridge, sailing south toward the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, where it moored for three days before making a return journey.
But why is it so acclaimed? Three words: world-renowned leathers.
The lasting quality of the Olympia bag starts with the materials. Each bag is made of two of the most luxurious leathers in the world, carefully selected from the best tanneries in Europe and known for their beauty, texture, and quality, which make it soft, flexible, and resistant.
Now, the giant version will continue on its summer travels as part of the Burberry Landscapes campaign, with its first stop in Dubai.
We don’t know where it'll be headed after that, but if you cross paths with an enormous but delightfully designed leather bag floating anywhere, don't get scared.
