Get 2021 inspo with YSG Studio
For Yasmine Ghoniem, founder and principal of YSG Studios, aesthetics are anything but secondary.
The studio, run by women only, was founded on the principle of defying the average when it comes to interior design, crafting atmospheres that bring unconventionality to both residential and commercial everyday spaces. The results: award-winning designs that transform raw spaces with soothing neutrals offset by strategically selected bolds & pastels, trend-defying furniture pieces, and an overall artisanal energy that marries whimsy with functionality.
Ghoniem claims the firm belief that we should aspire to "live in a dream state all the time", a value that shines through in her projects like the Budge Over Dover home located in Sydney, Australia. The studio seamlessly integrates every inch of the 825 square meter home with dreamy color choices like pistachio and plum that effortlessly channel the surrounding natural beauty of the home, creating an ethereal atmosphere to house the project's timeless furniture selections and unexpected décor silhouettes ― earning multiple accolades from organizations like the Australian Interior Design Awards.
And that fresh vision with colors and textures is still seen in other projects like the Crane in the Sky, which brought a circus-like frivolity with elegant yet unconventional leather furniture. The choice of leather is made considering the big range of color options the material offers & how it can highlight essential pieces even in a room full of personality.
Ghoniem's practice asks "why would you surround yourself with things that don't look great?" and responds by exceeding client expectations time and time again.
