Finn Juhls unique collection consists of classic masterpieces
Standing in complete contrast to his contemporary colleagues, FINN JUHL was neither a trained cabinetmaker nor furniture designer, but had instead studied to become an architect. His lack of technical knowledge has most likely contributed to furniture designs oozing with artistic freedom and expression.
Be ready for constant surprises in terms of shapes, aesthetics, and intricate design details. The unique Finn Juhl collection consists an amount of classic masterpieces, all of which are manufactured with the utmost respect for the original heritage and strict demands for quality by the retailers.
It’s probably going to be a long while until we have guests staying over, but in the meanwhile, have some fun fixing up your home — or, at least, getting inspired.
Let's meet some of the best furn pieces from THE HOUSE OF FINN JUHL.
Considered one of Juhl's masterpieces, the Chieftain Chair is made with patinated natural leather. This pieces won the Danish Design Award, Classic and the jury said in its motivation:
"Today, the Chieftain Chair stands as an inspiration to a new generation of furniture designers and as proof that attention to quality, international caliber, and a will to break away from tradition can pave the way to make a difference as a designer.”
The 109 Chair: apart from the comfort that Finn Juhl is so famous for, the armrests are almost intimately shaped to fit a small hollowing at the tip, which perfectly fits the plum of a thumb. This chair is manufactured in oak or walnut and with upholstery in fabric or leather.
The sculptural shapes and delicate details make the 48 Chair look elegant from every angle. P.S.: the two different types of wood used for the legs provide the perfect complement for the amazing leather seat.
The 48 Chair was designed by Finn Juhl in 1948 and relaunched in 2018. The organically shaped seat and backrest, upholstered in leather, are raised from the carrying frame in an almost demonstrative manner. Visually, this lifts the seated person, making it appear as if the law of gravity has been defeated.
