Burberry's AW'21 take on leather styling.
If you had the goal to translate modern femininity into a collection, how would you do it? For Autumn/Winter '21, Burberry puts fluidity and freedom into the equation.
"I have always been drawn to strong women and, in turn, they have also given me the confidence to express my own femininity. They are not afraid to challenge expectations and I have always been in such awe of their determination. They are warriors,” wrote the brand's creative director Riccardo Tisci in the notes accompanying the show.
With a bold celebration of female power, Tisci paid homage to Mother Nature by exploring British craft — the result was a twist on classic leather cuts with freedom of expression. The show kicked off with an original spoken-word piece from British rapper Shygirl, which you can watch right here.
Even tho it didn't have a live audience, Burberry went for an all-star (virtual) FROW. Kendall Jenner's look, in particular, highlighted the brand's take on leather styling. The classic Burberry cape was reimagined as a sleek leather coat with cinched waist fit, showing that what everyone needs for the season is great tailoring in timeless black leather. That's it, shoes can even come in second as the collection proves so.
Alongside Jenner in the virtual FROW was Ibrahim Kamara, DAZED Editor-in-chief. His chosen fit represented a frame that looks like it had traveled in time and showed how the brand's season is coming as a modern take on pride and timelessness.
Model Mariacarla Boscono, Naomi Campbell herself, and artist Soldier Boyfriend also wore Burberry Femininity pieces to watch the presentation.
